18 Kemp Street, Hamilton

17 Kemp Street in Hamilton is a three-storey tenement built around 1904 in the 'Glasgow style'. The building consists of five stepped blocks, featuring a front made of cream and grey ashlar, with brick on the gables and rear, and a rendered west gable. It has a slate roof. The windows include single and bipartite designs, with corbelled three-light shallow canted windows on the upper floors. The glazing is primarily plate glass sash and case, though some have been replaced with modern materials that do not match the original character. The eaves are corniced, and there are tall T-plan coped wallhead stacks that break through the eaves, topped with nearly uniform terracotta cans, along with ridge stacks at the coped dividing walls.

The front elevation features five identical blocks. Each block has a close door on the ground floor, a bipartite window to the right, and a combination of bipartite and single windows to the left. On the upper floors, there are two single windows flanked by canted windows, with a wallhead stack positioned in the center.
