Description

Blanefield is a large mansion built in 1915 and designed by architect James Miller. It is constructed in a modified English traditional style. The building is two storeys high, with a lower storey and projecting bays. The lower parts are built of coursed rubble, while the upper storey is harled (rough cast). It has a slated roof and an L-shaped wing with a hipped dormers at the south end. A drawing of the building was exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1915. The Builder magazine featured the design in 1915.
