Description
East Cairn Hill Cottage (West) is a later 18th century single-storey cottage immediately adjoining Souter Johnnie’s Cottage. It was likely built as part of a group around 1786. The cottage is constructed of coursed rubble walls with freestone dressings, featuring skew gables, slate roofs (originally thatched), moulded skewputs, and eaves cornices. Corner pilaster strips are also present. Most of the door and window openings facing the road have been blocked up. The architectural character is similar to that of Souter Johnnie’s Cottage. The statutory address is Cottages Known as East Cairn Hill.
