Description
4 Bruce Crescent is a later 19th century cottage ornee, featuring a single storey with an attic. The building is constructed of ashlar stone with lighter-coloured pinnings and is topped with ball and spike finials on the gables.
The northwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a central gabled timber porch with elaborate timber bargeboards and Jacobean style brackets. It includes a timber door with a letterbox fanlight above. On either side of the porch are bipartite windows, and above these, in the gabled dormers, are single round-arched windows.
The windows throughout the building are timber sash and case, featuring 4- and 6-pane lying pane glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there is a timber eaves course, coped gablehead stacks, and polygonal cans.
The interior was not seen during the inspection in 1998.
The property is enclosed by a coped boundary wall, which surrounds the site. To the left, there are square-plan gatepiers for the vehicular entrance, with one gatepier being taller than the other. The entrance features a two-leaf timber gate, while to the right is a single gatepier for the pedestrian entrance.
