Description
St Evox in St Quivox is a former inn built in 1852 by James McDerment, with later additions and alterations. This single-storey and attic building features three bays and has Tudor architectural details. It is harled with polished painted margins, and includes a base course, projecting cills, hoodmoulds, and an eaves course.
The north elevation is asymmetrical, featuring a pair of gabled bays on the right, which are off-centre, and a piend-roofed canted bay adjoining to the left, with a window on each facet. The west elevation is blank. The south elevation is also asymmetrical with two bays; it has a gabled bay on the left displaying the Oswald crest set in the gablehead, and an advanced gabled bay to the right that is blank, with a doorway and window on the left return, leading to a modern lean-to conservatory.
The east elevation is asymmetrical as well, with two bays advanced to the right; it has a blind window on the right and a window on the left, along with a two-pane skylight in the attic and a window on the left return. There is a recessed bay to the left that contains a single window and a two-pane skylight in the attic.
The building predominantly features two-pane and four-pane timber sash and case windows. It has a grey slate roof with lead ridges, corniced paired diamond-end ridge stacks with circular cans, and a coped brick stack to the east. The stone skews are coped, and it has cast-iron rainwater goods. The interior was not seen in 1999.
