Description

Later 19th century. 3-storey, 4-bay tenement with shops at ground floor, forming part of terrace. Polished red ashlar. Shopfront cornice; 2nd floor cill course; eaves course; cornice; parapet. Pediments and pilasters to central windows at 1st floor; architraved surrounds to central windows at 2nd floor; oriel windows to outer bays. Decorative curvilinear detail beneath central wallhead stack.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: pilastered doorpiece to No 44; arched keyblocked surround, timber door, split fanlight; entrances to left to 2 shops to right, glazed doors and shop windows (see Notes); glazed timber door to right of shop to left; regular fenestration at upper floors.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows at upper floors. Grey slate roof; central corniced wallhead stack rising from parapet (rebuilt); gablehead stacks; circular cans.
