Description
The Grotto at Fullarton Estate is likely from the mid 18th century and is a single-storey structure situated in a bank within the grounds of the now-demolished Fullarton House. It features a rubble sandstone exterior with polished sandstone dressings. The west-facing entrance has a rusticated depressed-arch opening, complete with a raised keystone and later 20th-century gates. Inside, the D-shaped interior has painted plaster walls and includes four regularly spaced niches with architraved cills, flanking pilasters, and scallop carving beneath keystoned arches. The roof is made of flat stone slabs.
