Description
The Lennox Family Vault and Waiting Room at St Machan's Church in Clachan of Campsie is a square, two-storey structure built in 1715, with an upper storey added in 1819. It is constructed from rubble with roughcast walls and features ashlar dressings. The building has angle pilasters with projecting dripstones and a heavily moulded cornice topped by a slated dome with an ogee shape.
The first-floor windows have chamfered margins, and there is a vault doorway with a depressed arch and a rusticated surround, which is dated 1715 and marked "Closed 1884." Inside, two slabs from table tombs dated 1604 and 1606, belonging to James Kincaid, seal the entry. Above the doorway, there is a weathered heraldic panel with a rectangular drip mould. An external stone stairway leads to the garden, featuring a first-floor doorway that is dated 1819.
