Description
Trochrague is a semi-baronial house, representing a substantial recasting and enlargement of a Georgian house dating from 1881. A datestone indicates that a core structure may be earlier, possibly from 1684. The front is harled, with a four-bay arrangement and corner turrets, standing three storeys high. Upper-floor windows feature sculpted heads. A square tower dated 1910, and a porte cochere were added by Norman Dick of John Burnett & Son between 1910 and 1912. Low battlemented extensions are present on both sides, along with a crowstepped wing to the rear. Further alterations and additions by Dick occurred in 1915 and between 1920 and 1923. The former library contains an "Adams" style mantelpiece. The building is now operating as a guest house.
