Description

William Cowie, 1904. 4-storey, 2-bay Edwardian Renaissance tenement block, with commercial ground floor premises. Polished red ashlar. Modillion shopfront cornice; modillion main cornice. Pedimented canted bay to left; pilaster strips framing; cartouches frame 3rd floor windows to left. Segmental pediment to keystoned 2nd floor window to left; architraves; sculpted apron.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central entrance to modern shopfront at ground to left; modern glazed door; letterbox fanlight; square-headed close to right. Regular fenestration of tripartite windows to all floors of bay to left, bipartite windows to 1st and 2nd floors of bay to right, tripartite window at 3rd floor.

Timber sash and case windows (4- and 6-panes to upper sashes). Grey slate roof; stone skews; brick gablehead stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
