Description
9 Kirk Port in Ayr is an early 19th-century, three-storey, two-bay rectangular-plan tenement that features a ground floor shop. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble and has margins around the windows.
On the south entrance elevation, there are two recessed entrances to the left at ground level, which have glazed timber doors. To the right, there is a bowed shopfront window with flanking lamps, and an entrance to the outer right. The first floor has a regular arrangement of single windows, while the second floor has a single window that is not aligned with the others at the outer right.
The east side elevation is three bays wide, with regular window arrangements on the first and second floors. The central bay on the second floor has a smaller window, while the outer bays feature blind windows at the second floor.
The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate piend roof, and brick stacks with circular and polygonal cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
