1 Citadel Place, Ayr

3 Citadel Place in Ayr is a pair of mirrored houses built in the later 19th century. They are two stories high and have six bays, situated on a corner site. The exterior is made of sandstone rubble, featuring a base course and a cornice, with cill blocks and painted margins around the window openings.

On the north elevation, there are steps leading to doorways with cavetto-splayed margins at the second-to-last bays on both the left and right sides. These doorways have recessed timber doors and letterbox fanlights. The flanking bays have regular window arrangements, although the central bay is not aligned. A central pedimented wallhead stack is present.

The east elevation, facing Fort Street, has three bays, with a recessed bay on the outer left. The fenestration is regular across all floors in the three-bay section, although the central bay has smaller window openings. There is a central pedimented wallhead stack here as well. The recessed bay on the outer left features a block-pedimented doorpiece with a two-leaf timber door and a letterbox fanlight. To the right, there is a lower square-headed archway, and a single window aligned on the first floor. The outer left corner has single windows on both the ground and first floors, with a smaller window in the center on the first floor.

The windows predominantly feature lying-pane glazing, although there is modern glazing in the windows on the ground floor of the outer left and in two windows on the first floor of the outer right on the east elevation. The roof is made of grey slate, with coped wallheads and ridge stacks, and circular chimney cans.

The interiors were not seen in 1998.
