Description
Villians Crofthouse is a single-storey building that is three bays wide, constructed from harled rubble. It features a gabled porch in the center bay, which includes a four-pane timber fixed-light window and a vertically-boarded timber door. Attached to the northeast gable of the crofthouse is a lower wing made of flagstone rubble, used for storage. Next to this wing is a roofless barn.
The crofthouse has a shallow-pitched felt roof and harled chimneystacks on the gables. The lower wing retains the remains of a taekket (thatched) roof, which was rethatched in 2014 using bale straw sourced from Lerwick. The straw is laid over an underlay of turf, and the roof is secured with fishing nets and weighted along the eaves with stones and metal poles, which are tied to the netting with string.
There are also flagstone rubble outbuildings to the southwest, which have a shallow-pitched tar roof.
