Schoolhouse, Lunna, Lunnasting

The former schoolhouse in Lunna, Lunnasting, dates from around 1820. It is a near-symmetrical single-storey building with an attic, featuring a three-bay principal block and a single-storey, two-bay wing attached to the southwest gable. The walls are made of harl-pointed rubble.

On the southeast, or principal elevation, the building is nearly symmetrical with the entrance door slightly offset to the left. There are 12-pane timber sash and case windows in the flanking bays. The two-bay wing to the left has a blind window to the left of centre and a modern door inserted to the right.

The northwest, or rear elevation, is symmetrical with a blind window in the centre and 4-pane timber glazing in the flanking bays. There is a modern lean-to addition to the wing on the right.

The principal block has a stone slab roof with cast-iron rooflights on the southeast pitch, while the wing has modern corrugated sheeting. The gablehead stacks are made of rubble and are coped, flanked by crowstepped skews and beak skewputts on both the principal block and the wing.
