Description

B N H Orphoot, 1922. Hexagonal ogee-domed classical pavilion war memorial with round-arched arcading to 3 sides built into E wall of Chambers Institution courtyard. Cream sandstone ashlar.

Round-arched keystoned openings divided by shallow pilasters, entablature, inscriptions to friezes. Dentilled eaves cornice with

tall blocking course and squat dies above pilasters with swagged urn finials. Ogival copped dome with protruding ribs surmounted by open columned cupola with fishscale lead dome with ball finial.

INTERIOR: tall celtic-type cross with multi-coloured mosaic inlay; 3 panels with inscriptions to walls with mosaic borders; interior of dome gold-coloured (?) tiles.
