Description
Probably earlier 19th century with later additions and alterations. Single and 2-storey, 9-bay classically-detailed courtyard steading. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, some droved. Eaves cornice. Segmental-arched openings. Keystones and voussoirs.
N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: centre bays with tall piend-roofed arcaded bay with high carriage arch at centre and similar height flanking openings each with 2-leaf part-glazed timber doors and 3-part timber-mullioned toplights; glazed oculi over outer arches and ball-finialled pediment with keystoned semicircular panel at centre. Lower flanking bays, those to right with centre panelled timber door, decoratively-astragalled fanlight and flanking windows, 3 modern rooflights above. Bays to left of centre with full-width part-glazed timber doors (those to left sliding) and small modern fanlight at centre flanked by pedimented dormer windows breaking eaves.
E ELEVATION: long low irregular 8-bay elevation with window and hayloft door to ball-finialled gable at centre, windows in flanking bays, timber door with plate glass fanlight in penultimate bay to right and further window to outer right; 3 windows in bays to left with wallhead stack beyond.
COURTYARD ELEVATIONS: variety of elements to elevations overlooking grassed courtyard, including 3-part, slated timber-louvered ridge ventilator to N elevation.
12- and 18-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped squared rubble and ashlar stacks with some cans; ashlar-coped skews to pediment and gables.
