Description
39 West Port in Selkirk is an early 19th century two-storey, two-bay tenement that is part of a terrace, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of painted whinstone rubble, featuring ashlar margins and droved ashlar tails.
On the northwest elevation facing West Port, there is a modern flush door in the left bay, with a window above it on the first floor. The right bay has a later bipartite window at ground level, which includes an ashlar mullion, and a window above it on the first floor.
The southeast elevation was not visible in 1996. The first-floor windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, while the ground floor features plate glass timber sash and case windows. The roof is slate, and there are brick mutual stacks. The interior was not seen in 1996.
