Description
The Allan Ramsay Hotel, dated 1792, is a two-storey, nine-bay gabled hotel located prominently in the center of Carlops village. The building features a five-bay section on the left, which includes a dated doorway with a pediment and scrolled brackets at the center. To the right, there is a further four-bay addition that has a stone forestair leading up to a door on the first floor. The exterior is constructed of stugged pale sandstone ashlar with smooth ashlar dressings.
The windows are predominantly timber sash and case, featuring four-pane glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes ridge and end stacks with clay cans. The hotel also has cast-iron rainwater goods.
