Description

The Market Cross in Bowden is a late 16th century structure that was restored around 1920 to serve as a War Memorial. It features a two-stage stepped square plinth with a bronze plaque that reads, "RESTORED FOR THE MEN OF THE PARISH WHO FELL IN THE WAR 1914-1919." Above the plinth is the original stop-chamfered base, which supports an inscribed octagonal shaft adorned with a thistle-carved band and topped with the original cross-head.
