Description
The former manse, now known as the Kirk House, dates from the early 19th century. It is a two-storey building with an attic and features three bays, along with lower two-storey and single-storey extensions. The exterior is harled with droved margins and has moulded cills, as well as stone mullions.
On the south elevation, the central bay at ground level has a broad corniced and pilastered sandstone doorcase, which frames a tripartite arrangement of a panelled timber door flanked by narrow multi-pane lights. The flanking bays contain windows, with the right bay altered to a bipartite window, while the first floor has regular fenestration. The outer bays feature polygonal-roofed canted dormer windows, and there is a small cast-iron rooflight in the centre.
The east elevation is gabled, with a window to the right at ground level, a small window to the left at the first floor, and a tiny attic window to the right. There is a low single-storey bay on the outer right with a small window and a bipartite window beyond.
The west elevation is also gabled and has two windows on each floor, with a tiny attic window to the left. There is a gabled two-storey projection on the outer left, featuring a window to the left at the first floor and a French window at ground level, with a bipartite window above on the right return. Long low single-storey bays project from this gable.
The north elevation, or rear, presents a variety of elements with asymmetrical fenestration. The windows throughout the building are timber sash and case, featuring 4-, 8-, and 15-pane glazing patterns. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the stacks are coped and harled, with thackstanes and cans, along with ashlar-coped skews.
The interior was not seen in 2002.
