Description

1812; heightened by 1 storey 1861. Symmetrical 2-storey 3-bay former school. Whinstone with long and short cream sandstone ashlar dressings; harled to sides and rear. Chamfered arrises.

S ELEVATION: advanced gabled bay at centre with later broad 2-leaf boarded door at ground; window at 1st floor and framed panel in gablehead (St Andrew and cross). Flanking bays with windows at ground and smaller windows at 1st floor, hard under eaves.

W ELEVATION: gabled; windows to both floors displaced to left. Apex stack.

E ELEVATION: gabled; windows to both floors displaced to right; trefoil at centre of 1st floor. Apex stack. 6-pane timber sash and case windows. Purple slates; ashlar coped skews; corbel skewputts to centre gable (finial missing); coped ashlar dressed stacks.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.

GATE: to immediate E; materials as above. Boarded door in ashlar coped wall; panel above door with shield bearing letter G and large ball finial.
