Description
The Garden Terraces at Old Parr House in Minto were designed by Sir Robert Lorimer in 1906. These rectangular-plan, walled garden terraces were formerly associated with Minto House, which was demolished in 1992 and 1993.
The walled garden measures 90 metres in length and features three partitions arranged over three terraced levels. The walls are constructed of squared-and-snecked rubble and include cuboid balustrades, carved scroll abutments, and flat-coping stones with a bevelled edge. The north wall has two bowed sections, while the south retaining wall is buttressed. A twin stair at the south entrance provides access to the central partition, and stone steps connect the different levels. In the centre of the westernmost partition, there is a rectangular-plan flowerbed edged with stone.
