Description
This is a bronze bust of Sir Walter Scott, created by Thomas J Clapperton in 1932. The bust is mounted on a light grey granite plinth that features an inset bronze panel showing a bard and a relief carving with the words 'O Great and Gallant Scott'. The bust is surrounded by a semi-circular squared whin wall topped with light grey granite coping. The wall has relief-carved lettering that reads, 'The last of all the bards was he, who sung of border chivalry'. There was originally a stone bench at the base of the wall, which has now been adapted to hold flowers.
