4 Easter Ulston Cottages

The building comprises four late 19th-century semi-detached cottages, arranged as two pairs. They are constructed of cream-coloured squared and snecked sandstone rubble with stugged ashlar dressings, ashlar mullions, and bracketed eaves. The gables have overhanging eaves and plain bargeboards.

The front (south) elevation is symmetrical, with a pair of gabled bays centrally positioned. The bay on the right is slightly broader and projects forward. The ground floor features tripartite windows, while the gableheads contain bipartite windows. The front doors are modern at No. 1 and boarded at No. 2, both with letterbox fanlights above. Single-storey bays flank the front doors.

The east and west elevations are gabled, with windows to the north at ground level and centrally at the first floor, within the gableheads. A single-storey, lean-to addition is recessed to the north. The north elevation features lean-to extensions with windows in the outer bays, and a window and back door to the inner bays on the ground floor. First floor windows are bipartite and break the eaves with gabled dormerheads.

Nos. 3 and 4 are similar, except that the front gable of No. 3 does not project forward, and No. 4 has a large, gabled, two-storey harled addition to the rear.

The windows are timber sash and case, with small diamond panes in the advanced gables; otherwise, they are plate glass, with modern replacements in the extension. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped stacks at the centre of each block. Cast iron guttering and downpipes are present.
