Description
The Anchorage, located at 13-19 High Cross Avenue in Melrose, is a mid-19th century building designed in the Scottish Baronial style, influenced by the work of architects Peddie and Kinnear. The north front features an asymmetrical four-bay layout and stands two storeys high, with a lower recessed two-storey service wing to the west. The entrance is situated in a projecting gabled bay that is off-centre to the right. The left-hand bay is advanced and canted, with a corbelled square at the gable. The first-floor windows are adorned with pedimented dormerheads, and the building has straight skews and a slated roof.
