Description
The Museum and Art Gallery on Bridge Lane in Perth was designed by David Morison in 1824 and originally served as Marshall's Monument. It features a classic ashlar rotunda with a fluted tetrastyle Roman Ionic portico. The dome was remodeled in 1954. An addition for the Art Gallery and Museum was made by Smart, Stewart and Mitchell in 1931, which consists of a single-storey and basement structure in ashlar. This addition includes a large keystoned doorway with relief sculpture above and a four-window façade facing George Street, along with a main cornice and blocking course. Inside, the building has an Ionic columned interior and a central glazed dome.
