Description

Designed by Francis Grant (the proprietor, probably

with local professional assistance) after 1793. Adam

type classic with a variety of gothic and other unusual

detail. 2 storey and full basement. 9 window squared

droved rubble S. front, rusticated basement with doric

porch. Tetrastyle Corinthian composite pilastered

centrepiece, end bays advanced with pediments and

venetians with slim R doric columns at main floor.

Remainder rubble with ashlar dressings, corner pavilions

crenellated sides and back, hood moulds over main floor

venetians and gothic windows above. Fine classical

interior work, segmentally vaulted entrance hall staircase

& c. Poor addition on W., modern chapel school quadrangle

to rear.
