Description
124 and 126 Atholl Road in Pitlochry is a late 19th-century, two-storey and attic, four-bay tenement building that includes a shop on the ground floor with a flat above. The structure is made of squared rubble with droved ashlar dressings and features a round-headed attic window.
On the principal southwest elevation, the shop is located to the left of center at ground level. It has an in-canted, part-glazed timber door at the center, flanked by decorative cast-iron columns, braces, and display windows. To the outer left is a panelled timber door with a deep plate glass fanlight, while a further display window is found in the bay to the right, accompanied by a deep-set door and similar columns and braces. There is another door to the outer right, all set behind later ironwork and a glazed canopy. The first floor has four regularly spaced windows, with two to the left beneath a finialled gable that includes a small round-headed window. The windows to the right feature individual finialled dormerheads that break the eaves, alongside a later small bipartite dormer window.
The windows consist of two-pane over plate glass and plate glass glazing in timber sash and case styles, with multi-pane coloured upper lights in the display windows. The first-floor bays to the right of center have modern windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a coped ashlar stack with cans. Square-section cast-iron downpipes are fitted with decorative rainwater hoppers and fixings, and the building is adorned with decorative cast-iron finials, timber bargeboarding, and pendant finials.
