Description
The South Gateway at Millearne, likely designed by R & R Dickson in the early 19th century, is an impressive Tudor Gothic structure that serves as the main entrance to Millearne House. The gateway features a broad vehicular entrance made of ashlar stone, flanked by high boundary walls that are topped with coping. The wall to the east was formerly part of the Gate Lodge.
The gateway itself is slightly advanced and has a Gothic arch with decorative voussoirs. It includes two-leaf ironwork gates and flanking shouldered walls, one of which has a small blocked opening. The adjoining boundary walls enhance the overall architectural character of the entrance.
