Description

The steading at Ayton House is a cottage dated 1716, which was renovated later in the 18th century. It is a single-storey structure with six windows and a central porch, built from whitewashed rubble featuring droved dressings and chamfered margins. The building has an E plan, with arms of unequal length, and includes a single-storey and loft design. It features semi-elliptical cart shed arches and piend roofs, with the loft serving as a dovecot, also constructed from whitewashed rubble.
