9 York Place, Perth

43 New Row in Perth is a four-storey, seven-by-eight-bay Edwardian Baroque tenement building, designed by GPK Young and dated 1907. It is prominently located on a corner site and features shops on the ground floor. The building has a splayed corner with an octagonal drum above the wallhead, topped with a copper domed roof and a finial. The façade includes key-stoned round-arched windows set in pilastered aedicules, with ashlar stonework on the front and rubble at the rear. Notable architectural details include a base course, a cornice at the ground level, and a dentilled cornice. The upper storeys are adorned with channelled pilasters, some moulded architraves, and window openings that feature banded columns and Gibbsian surrounds.

The shops at ground level are primarily characterized by slim iron pilasters with curved Art Nouveau motifs, leading to broad clerestories, some of which have been filled in. There are timber fascias and tiled lobbies that also display Art Nouveau motifs, along with part-glazed timber entrance doors and panelled soffits. The corner bay features broken pediment aedicules on the first storey, while the third storey includes the inscription "YORK CORNER" within a foliate surround.

The upper storeys predominantly have two-over-two pane timber sash and case windows, while the ground floor features plate glass. The building is finished with wallhead and ridge stacks and is covered with grey slates.
