Description

5-6 Breadalbane Terrace is a two-storey and attic tenement building dated 1880. It has a tall, rectangular plan with 12 bays and features stone dormers. The exterior is constructed from squared and snecked chlorite-slate rubble with stugged dressings, and includes some voussoired segmental-headed windows and stop-chamfered arrises.

The southeast elevation is nearly symmetrical, with bays 2, 7, and 11 featuring gables that are slightly advanced. These bays have a decoratively-bracketed canopy over a panelled timber door with a plate glass fanlight above. The first floor has a window that leads to a moulded date panel and a segmental-headed window in the gablehead. There is a pend entrance only in bay 9, while the remaining bays have regular fenestration.

The southwest and northeast elevations are blank gabled walls. The northwest (rear) elevation showcases a variety of elements, including three piend-roofed stair towers that break the eaves and stone dormer windows.

The building features a largely 4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows, and is topped with grey slates. It has coped ashlar stacks with a full complement of cans, many of which are polygonal. The eaves are overhanging and have plain bargeboarding.

The property is enclosed by a low saddleback-coped rubble boundary wall.
