Description
The Gazebo at the Taybank Hotel in Dunkeld is a small, two-storey building with a square plan, partially built into the hillside to the east of the hotel. It is constructed from rubble, primarily slate, set in mortar and finished with a four-sided slate roof. The building features Gothic pointed blocked windows and a timber boarded door on the south side.
According to information from the Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust, this structure was previously a gunpowder battery or store for the Dunkeld quarry, and it is referred to as 'The Magazine' in the Buildings of Scotland. Repair works were conducted by the Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust around the year 2000, and a blue plaque on the south elevation identifies it as 'The Magazine'.
