Description

The Old Manse and Former Secession Church in Pitroddie, Errol, dates back to 1810, with alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is a two-storey, three-bay former manse that has been modified to include a single-storey ancillary section and possibly a two-storey new build. The exterior is harled with stone and concrete margins and features quoin strips.

On the southwest (principal) elevation, the design is symmetrical, with a modern door at the center flanked by windows on each floor. To the left, there is a French window leading to a set-back single-storey bay, and a small horizontal window at the ground level, along with two first-floor windows in a further set-back two-storey bay.

The northeast (road) elevation includes a window on each floor of the left bay, a stair window in the center, and another window on the right at the first floor. There is a piended porch at the ground level to the right, adjoining altered bays beyond.

The southeast elevation features a plain gabled bay. The windows are timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern, except for the single-storey bay, which has small-pane, top-opening timber windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with thackstanes, as well as coped harled stacks and ashlar-coped skews.

The former Secession Church, built in 1816, is a roofless structure with a rectangular plan, constructed from whinstone rubble with droved margins and large quoins.
