Description
Calder Parish Church, located on Calder Street in Coatbridge, was built in 1870 and is designed in the Gothic style, featuring a spire with an adjoining manse at the liturgical east. The church is constructed of squared rubble with ashlar dressings and has slate roofs.
The church has a gabled north front that includes a simplified rose window. To the right, there is an entrance tower that fronts one side aisle, with buttresses that rise up and are topped with pinnacles. The octagonal stone spire has lucarnes, and the church primarily features lancet windows and cusped-headed lights along the flanks, with the roof sweeping over the aisles.
The adjoining manse is two stories high and gabled, with a two-bay south front. It has a canted ground floor window on the left, and the windows above break through the eaves, featuring gabled dormer heads. The main entrance is located at the east side of the manse.
The boundary of the property is partly stone-built and partly iron-railed, with corniced square gatepiers.
