57-59 Main Street, Wishaw

57-59 Main Street in Wishaw is a two-storey and attic, two-bay, square-plan terraced Jacobean tenement building, dated 1890, which includes shops on the ground floor. It is constructed from yellow ashlar sandstone and features a cavetto moulded dividing band between the ground and second floors, as well as an eaves course cornice. The windows have rolled moulded reveals and a projected cornice, with stone mullions.

On the northeast (principal) elevation, there is a modern shop front at ground level. The first floor has a bipartite window in the left bay, with a chamfered pilaster to the far left. To the right is a gabled bay with a coped parapet block, skewputts, and obelisk finials, along with a canted four-light window that is corbelled with a panelled parapet. There is also a bipartite window in the gablehead, which is inscribed with "JBL 1890" at the apex, and a flat-roofed dormer to the left. A panelled pilaster frames the first floor to the left.

The southwest (rear) elevation was not seen in 2000. The southeast (side) elevation is adjoining another building, as is the northwest (side) elevation.

The windows are predominantly timber sash and case, with four-pane upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring coped sandstone chimney stacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. The interior has modern shop fittings on the ground floor, while the residential storey was not seen in 2000.
