Description
Burnside is an early 19th century single-storey, three-bay cottage with a rear wing. Around 1900, the cottage was altered and raised, incorporating Tudor detailing. The building is constructed of rubble stone with ashlar dressings. The west-facing elevation features a central doorway with a two-leaf glazed and panelled door. It also has two tripartite windows in the outer bays, each with a hoodmould and Tudor arched lights (the central and right bays are partially obscured by a modern verandah). The wallhead has been raised to accommodate timber panelling below deeply projecting eaves on the front elevation, with masonry built up at the gable ends. Two tripartite dormers are present, featuring shallow-pitched, timber-framed gables and projecting eaves. There are end stacks and a slate roof.
The two-bay rear wing, facing Burnfoot Road, has a rustic, timbered and slated porch. Two bipartite dormers are above the porch, with swept roofs.
