Description
Pitcon is a late 18th century country house that stands two storeys high and features three bays. The building is symmetrical in design, with later additions. It is constructed of roughly coursed rubble, highlighted by polished margins and rusticated quoins. The central bay, which is slightly advanced, has a pediment and includes a door flanked by sidelights. Throughout the house, there are 12-pane sash windows, with the window above the door featuring an apron panel. At the rear, a tall 'Y'-traceried pointed-arched stair window rises into a pediment. All elevations have an eaves course and cornice. The house is topped with a piended platform roof and has two symmetrically-placed stacks.
To the left, there is a recessed two-storey, three-bay extension from the early 20th century, built of rubble with ashlar margins and rusticated quoins. This extension features piended wall-head gables above the first-floor windows, along with an eaves course, cornice, and a piended slate roof.
Inside, the house boasts good pine panelling and a curved cantilevered stair. To the east, there is a walled garden that dates back to the late 18th century. The property also contains various inserted datestones and marriage lintels from an earlier house that once occupied the site.
