Description
These stables form a large, pedimented courtyard range, situated within Eglinton Castle. Dating to around 1800, the structure is constructed of random stonework with ashlar dressings. The central opening is arched, and the corners are finished with battlements. The rear facade features a raised clock turret with an open, columned belfry and cupola. Later, the stables were converted for use as a canning factory. Additional references concerning the building may be found in the Statistical Account of Scotland, Volume V, pages 825-6, and the Scheduled National Buildings Record.
