Description

Montgreenan is a Classical mansion built around 1810 to 1820 by Robert Glasgow Esq., situated within wooded policies. The main building is constructed of ashlar and extends to two storeys over a basement. The facade, seven sashes wide, has slight projections on either side. A Doric porch with four flat columns leads to a flight of entrance steps, topped by a flat projecting cornice with modillions and a low parapet featuring a central balustrade. Windows are set within architrave surrounds; the central ground-floor windows have additional entablatures. Flanking wings, one storey high and with two sash windows each, are likely a later addition. The building has end panelled pilasters.
