Description
Scaristamore Parish Church, built in 1840, serves as a parish church and showcases Gothic architectural style. The building has a tall, rectangular plan with two bays on the flanks, featuring pointed windows adorned with delicate intersecting tracery. The sash windows include timber astragals, while the two lights on the southwest gable, which flank the pulpit, are simpler, metal-framed, and fixed.
A piend-roofed porch is located on the northeast gable, although the jamb on the rear southeast wall is not original. The church is harled with unmargined openings and has slated roofs topped with skews and ball finials.
Inside, the seating appears to have been altered, arranged in two ranks with a central passageway. The pews at the front and rear are shorter, while the remaining pews seem to have been lengthened, suggesting there may have once been a long communion table in the center. The pulpit is panelled and includes an integral precentor's box beneath, with a hexagonal sounding board above.
