Description
The stables and garages at Innes House were originally built in 1830 by William Robertson, with later additions and alterations made by Walker and Duncan in 1912. The building forms a courtyard with parallel ranges on the east and west sides, connected by low screen walls featuring gatepiers topped with ball finials.
The east range is harled with ashlar margins and angle strips, standing two stories tall and consisting of eight bays. It originally had small square windows on the first floor, but these were reconstructed by Walker and Duncan in 1912. The center two bays were raised and gabled, with a forestair leading to the first floor at the east front. The outer windows were raised and fitted with flat-roofed dormerheads, except for the north window at the east front. Most of the chimneys are original, except for those at the north gable and the center gable. The roof is slated and features bracketed eaves.
The west range, which houses the garages and stables, was also designed by Walker and Duncan in 1912. It is harled with ashlar dressings and is a single-storey structure. The center of this range is slightly advanced and features gables with a timber bellcote topped with an ogee lead roof. The roof is also slated.
