Description
Kincorth House is a building dated 1797, primarily a two-storey house with significant additions made by Alexander Ross in 1867, along with further extensions to the rear dated 1900. The structure is built of rubble with tooled ashlar dressings, while the rear is finished in harled rubble.
The house features a symmetrical three-bay façade with a central door beneath a re-cut datestone from 1797. On either side of the entrance are ground and first-floor Venetian windows. The central gabled bay was raised in 1867 and includes a pointed-headed two-light window and an apex stack, with flanking gabled dormers also added in 1867.
A substantial two-storey wing from 1867 projects as a single gabled bay on the southwest, with an irregular six-bay return on the west elevation. The drawing room is illuminated by large three-light windows at the south and features a corbelled wallhead stack.
The early three-bay house has multi-pane glazing with Gothic upper lights, while the rest of the windows are mainly two-pane. The house has end stacks and slate roofs.
Inside, the original 18th-century staircase has been removed, but some fielded panelled doors remain. The interior largely reflects the 1867 renovations, including a notable staircase from that year with turned balusters.
The drawing room features embossed detailing on the panelled doors and the chimneypiece, while the dining room has a smaller chimneypiece similar to that in the drawing room.
The garden is enclosed on the north and west sides by brick walls.
