Description
The Findhorn Viaduct, built in 1858 by Joseph Mitchell for the Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway, carries the railway line across the River Findhorn. The viaduct is 608.5 feet long and sits 18 feet 6 inches above the water level. It comprises three 150-foot wrought-iron box spans, with arched plate girder structures linking the side spans at each end. The structure is supported by masonry piers and pylons, and features a cast-iron plaque dated 1858.
