Description

10 The Square, built in 1823 by William Robertson, is a two-storey building featuring a bowed angle block at No 12 The Square. It is flanked on the right by a two-storey, three-bay house at Nos 38 and 40 Seafield Street, and on the left by a similar dwelling at Nos 8 and 10 The Square. The exterior is made of harled pointed rubble with contrasting painted tooled ashlar margins.

The ground floor of the central bowed bay has been significantly altered to accommodate a modern shop front. The three-bay central angle is slightly recessed and defined by margins, reflecting the design of Nos 7 and 9 The Square across the street. There is a single entrance to Nos 8 and 10 in the centre. The first floor has regular fenestration with varied glazing. The building features end and ridge corniced stacks and has slate roofs that are bowed and piended at the angle.
