Forres, 11 St Leonard's Road

This building, located at 11 St Leonard's Road in Forres, dates from around 1865 and is a two-storey, three-bay symmetrical villa, part of a pair with a neighboring structure. It is constructed from roughly coursed rubble, featuring contrasting cream ashlar sandstone dressing, stone mullions, and an eaves course.

The principal elevation showcases a tripartite doorway at the center with a strip fanlight above. The outer bays at the ground floor have tripartite windows set in rectangular projections, which are linked across the center bay to form a tripartite loggia supported by ashlar Doric columns. This loggia includes a continuous cornice and a blocking course, along with decorative wrought-iron brattishing. At the first floor, there is a French window that leads to a balcony, which has since been blocked and replaced with a window. Flanking the center are bipartite windows in the outer bays.

The gable end elevations are blank and feature ashlar coped skews, along with consoled and circular-pedimented skewputts. The building has coped ashlar end stacks and a plate glass glazing pattern in the sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates.

Notable features include decorative gutter fixtures and gutterheads that have been retained. Stone steps lead to a terrace in front of the principal elevation, with stone urns mounted on dies at the foot of the steps.
