Forres, 13 St Leonard's Road

This building, located at 13 St Leonard's Road in Forres, dates from around 1865 and is a two-storey, three-bay symmetrical villa, part of a pair of similar structures. It is constructed from roughly coursed rubble with contrasting cream ashlar sandstone dressings and features stone mullions and an eaves course.

The principal elevation showcases a tripartite doorway at the center, which has a modern door and a strip fanlight above it. The outer bays at the ground floor contain tripartite windows set in rectangular projections, which are linked across the center bay to form a tripartite loggia supported by ashlar Doric columns. This loggia is topped with a continuous cornice and a blocking course, and it features decorative wrought-iron brattishing. Above, there is a French window leading to a balcony at the first floor center, flanked by bipartite windows in the outer bays. The gable end elevations are blank, with ashlar coped skews and consoled circular-pedimented skewputts, along with coped ashlar end stacks. The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing in a sash and case style, and the roof is covered with grey slates.

The building retains decorative gutter fixtures and gutterheads. In front of the principal elevation, there are stone steps leading to a terrace, with dies mounted by stone urns at the foot of the steps.
