Warehouses, 3, 4, 5, 6 Pitgaveny Street, Branderburgh Harbour, Lossiemouth

The Harbour Master's Office, located at 1 Pitgaveny Street in Branderburgh Harbour, Lossiemouth, was built in 1851 for the northern six bays and between 1860 and 1870 for the southern four bays, which include the harbour master's office and a return elevation to Commerce Street.

This three-storey, ten-bay building faces the harbour and features a returning bowed angle and a single gable bay towards Commerce Street. It is constructed of rubble with tooled ashlar and tooled rubble dressings. There is a blocked entrance that has been converted into a window in the bowed angle, along with a corniced entrance that has flanking windows, a mural barometer recess, and regular fenestration.

To the north of the harbour master's office, there are continuous warehouse ranges that now incorporate the Fisheries Museum. These have nine segmental-headed ground floor entrances, some flanked by shallow circular mural recesses for lifebelts, dating from 1860 to 1870, while the northern bays feature narrow shuttered windows from 1851. All entrances have double-leaf plank doors, except for the one at the extreme northern end, which is blocked.

The building has regular fenestration, with low windows on the second floor that break the wallhead, leading to gabled dormers above the harbour master's office. The northern six bays have a corrugated asbestos roof, while the southern four bays have a slightly higher slated roof with two coped ridge stacks.

At the rear, there are four rubble forestairs that serve the first and second floors, oversailing the ground floor and some first-floor doorways, which function as porches. There is also a low single-storey extension at the northern end with a corrugated asbestos roof.
