Description

This building, located at 7-8 Elchies Road in Aberlour, dates back to 1896 and serves as a public house. It is designed as a single storey and two-storey structure with an attic, featuring a three-bay layout and a storm gable. The exterior is constructed from snecked squared rubble with ashlar dressings.

On the northeast elevation, there is a bowed gable with a slated canopy over the central door, flanked by windows on either side. Above, at the first floor, there is a small moulded panel with the date and initials 'JC' (?). A further single window is located in the gablehead, which also has a stack.

The northwest elevation includes a door to the right and a window to the left at ground level, with a central stair window and two additional windows on the first floor. Above these, there are two finialled canted dormer windows. A single-storey wing extends to the outer right.

The southeast elevation features an advanced gabled bay to the left of the center, with a single window on each floor at the outer left. To the right, there is a return with a window on each floor above a basement opening and a dormer window above that. Additionally, there are further windows on each floor of a set-back bay to the right, which adjoins the bowed northeast elevation at the outer right.

The southwest elevation has been altered and includes a gabled bay to the left and an extension to the right. The building largely features a 4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows, with grey slates on the roof. The chimney stacks are made of ashlar and are coped, with some cans, and the skews are also ashlar-coped.

Inside, the bar area is characterized by a boarded dado and a cast-iron centre column.
