Description
This is an earlier 19th century meal mill and kiln, built as a rectangular two-storey structure. It is constructed of rubble with tooled rubble dressings, and some areas are now harled. The south elevation has an irregular three-bay arrangement. A lean-to wheelhouse is attached to the south gable, containing a paddle wheel, and a lean-to rear extension is also present. The building is roofed with slate, and the kiln features a revolving ridge cowl. The interior is largely gutted, although some original machinery survives. The building is currently in poor condition. As noted by John Hume in The Industrial Archaeology of Scotland (1977, p. 181), this mill represents a significant industrial feature.
